YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

The minimum entry requirement for this apprenticeship is Five GCSEs at grades 3 – 9 / A*-D including Maths & English)

Good planning and organization skills is important, and you will need the ability to multitask and be a self-starter. Previous use of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is beneficial.

YOUR ROLE

We’re excited to announce that we’re looking for four apprentices to join our Air Logistics teams based in Heathrow. Working across two sites next to Heathrow airport, our teams work on behalf of a huge range of customers processing air import, air export and road freight shipments. Dealing with the entire shipment process, the teams are responsible for liaising with customers, executing bookings, generating the required documentation and ensuring timely collection & delivery of cargo to/from the airport.This is not just another job, it’s an exciting opportunity to be a part of something big and make a real difference. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Our 24-month Apprenticeship programme is designed to provide you with the perfect blend of practical on-the-job training and study towards the Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship.

The team are responsible for processing air import, air export and road freight jobs. They deal with the entire process of the shipment from customer & airline bookings to quoting and processing of documentation.You’ll be learning how to:

  • Build strong relationships with all stakeholders and UK Branch Colleagues
  • Book shipments with airlines
  • Liaise with customers & suppliers
  • Produce and prepare documentation for the transit of carg

As an Operational Care Specialist you will be part of a team responsible for coordinating transport activities by executing the necessary air logistics bookings, managing the data entry associated with transport document generation and liaising with our customer care specialists to ensure specific requirements are met (Transit Times, Carrier selection, Routings etc.). You’ll be learning how to:

  • Coordinate and align customer deliverables with customer care teams, partners and suppliers to manage the transportation of customer’s cargo.
  • Manage operational tasks through Business Process Automation tools (BPA) and all related features.
  • Review and ensure alignment of shipping instructions clarifying any deviations/conflicts in contradiction to country regulations, export compliance and rate and routing information.
  • Immediately report problems, operational disputes, or discrepancies to your team leader
  • Monitor operational performance of carriers and other vendors and escalate / create awareness if performance and commitments are not being delivered.
  • Initiate and resolve any rate or performance discrepancies.
  • Act as a main contact for the services in scop

The team are responsible for providing a UK service to our customers whether collecting and delivering cargo to / from the airport Ground Handling Agents (GHA) for flight departures and arrivals, arranging special dedicated transport for urgent Express shipments or booking Temperature Controlled vehicles for Pharmaceutical goods.You’ll be learning how to…

  • Truck route planning - Work with Hauliers to drive business performance
  • Customs compliance - adhere to laws, regulations and procedures governing the import and export of goods
  • Cost control - Review and optimise all processes to deliver volume utilisation & costs reductions.
  • Projects - Participate in key focus areas (when required)
  • Overseeing and optimising relationships with suppliers
  • Support team metrics and proactively work with key stakeholders including Hauliers to consistently meet and exceed targets.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with our customers putting their best interest at the forefront of everything we, do delivering consistently high levels of customer satisfaction

The team are responsible for booking & processing shipments with airlines, making bookings and negotiating rates, producing transit documentation & ensuring cargo is delivered into the airline by the close off time.You’ll be learning how to…
