• Gain specialist knowledge in plant mechanics and metalworking; information, electrical and control technology as well as pneumatics and hydraulics
• Mechanical processing of individual parts through to the installation of complex machines and production systems
• Planning and development of circuits and electronic control systems
• Troubleshooting machines and systems using test software

• Good secondary school leaving certificate
• Interest in math, physics and technology
• Technical understanding
• Good spatial awareness
• Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
