How you’ll make a difference:
As a Business Administrator Apprentice, you will provide a fully comprehensive business and administration service to the Social Care team in North Locality, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements of the department in a constantly changing environment.
Our team makes a real difference, working alongside professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people within South Gloucestershire. Your work helps the team, council and other partner agencies to support and safeguard vulnerable families in the community.

What you will be doing:

  • Working alongside our experienced staff, you will act as a main point of contact for the service area and provide effective communication when dealing with enquiries and information requests.
  • Day to day/daily, you will provide administrative support to managers ensuring work carried out is efficient and procedures are effectively implemented. This will include minute taking for key meetings.
  • You will have the opportunity to learn how to research information within your area of service specialism and collate evidence for presentation in reports. This may include drafting sections of documents for use by others.
  • It will be key for you to collate and maintain records and analyse information to ensure accurate statements are produced and data is retrieved from computerised systems and interpreted.
  • In addition, you’ll be taught how communicate specific concerns, queries and issues and ensure they are accurately and promptly relayed when necessary.
  • The role also requires you to accurately record and assist in the monitoring and maintaining of budgets/financial information/resources.

What we need from you:

  • You will ideally hold a minimum of GCSE A*-C (or grade 4-9) or equivalent qualification in English and Maths.
  • It would be advantageous to have good IT skills in the use of Microsoft packages, such as Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • You must have the drive and willingness to learn new things and be committed to gaining your qualification.
  • You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have the confidence to handle contact channels that include telephone, email and face to face situations.
  • Ideally, you will have experience of basic financial procedures e.g. petty cash, invoicing, etc.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10-minute presentation as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who do not provide a presentation at interview will not progress through the recruitment process.
  • Interviews will be held on 5th and 6th June 2025 at Patchway Locality Hub.
  • Throughout your 18-month apprenticeship, we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support in completing your Level 3 Business Administration, which requires weekly day release learning at South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7AT.
  • This is an 18-month limited term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship programme.
  • The salary for this apprenticeship is set at the current National Minimum Wage:
