ROLE PURPOSE

The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a professional to join the Collection Engagement Business Unit within the Rights & Permissions team as a Rights and Permissions Project Officer.
The Rights & Permissions team provides guidance across the Museum in relation to copyright and intellectual property as it relates to Museum collections and associated work and activities. As part of the Museum’s obligations under the Museum’s First Nations Cultural Rights and Engagement policy the team also consults with Indigenous artists, their agent, or relevant community/art centre, as appropriate.
The Museum is collaborating with the Maningrida community to co-develop an immersive digital experience Water Spirits (working title) that will tour internationally. Senior Custodians and Maningrida Arts Culture Centre will curate the experience, guiding exhibition themes to ensure cultural integrity. A broad cross-organisational NMA project team, including exhibitions, digital producers, curators, rights management, collections and community engagement staff, will be working flexibly and collaboratively to ensure delivery of the experience within a timely manner.
This project position will work with limited direction within the Rights & Permissions team and with the broader project team to ensure copyright and Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property is managed in a culturally appropriate manner.
This includes advising on rights issues, assisting in review of contracts and agreements, ensuring appropriate copyright clearances are place, any necessary individual consents are obtained and working collaboratively with the NMA project team to document cultural consents as required. A high level of written and administrative skills are required to ensure that documentation and record keeping is created and maintained in line with relevant legislation and NMA policies.

APPLICANTS MUST INCLUDE A 1-PAGE PITCH ADDRESSING THEIR SUITABILITY FOR THE ROLE AGAINST THE SELECTION CRITERIA. APPLICANTS MUST ALSO PROVIDE A RESUME AND CONTACT DETAILS FOR 2 REFEREES.
