    Under the limited direction of the Assistant Director, the Senior Project Officer is responsible for the provision of specialist operational support and advice to OAWG depots as directed.
    The Senior Project Officer assists in the provision of procurement and contracting advice and assistance to OAWG staff members. OAWG undertakes a significant number of procurement activities in order to maintain the government commitment to acknowledge and commemorate eligible veterans. The Senior Project Officer manages the administration of 10 standing offer arrangements with more than 100 panel providers.
    As an OAWG representative, the Senior Project Officer is required to liaise with Department of Veterans’ Affairs staff, ex-Service organisations, veterans’ and their families, cemetery authorities, local and State authorities, and funeral providers on matters relating to OAWG business.

The key duties of the position include:

  • Provide procurement, contract and administration advice to depots and national office.
  • Coordinate the Office of Australian War Graves superannuation contributions
  • Undertake procurement activities and manage contracts for works, services and goods as part of projects or as part of National Office administrative support to State and Regional Managers.
  • Provide financial and quality assurance reports for management consideration.
  • Maintain asset registers and develop reports for insurances and management reporting.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with financial and procurement policies and frameworks.
  • Undertake financial management, analysis and reporting for OAWG War Graves Operations.
  • Maintain Standing Offer Panels including quarterly review of spends against panel arrangement.
  • Undertake procurement and contract management activities.
  • Monitor and review contracts and service agreements on DVA information management systems (WGS) as they relate to the delivery of maintenance services for OAWG managed sites and official commemorations within Australia.
  • Coordinate the WGS information system steady state as it relates to Operations Section.
  • Coordinate and manage contract reporting requirements in compliance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and DVA reporting requirements.
  • Provide administrative support for travel, accommodation and logistics for National Office coordinated activities as required.
  • Undertake projects (generally event, administrative, infrastructure/site or policy related) as required.
