Position Location 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 20191  This is an on-site position at Reston headquarters and Reston Association Pool sites. Your seasonal position may require travel to multiple Reston Association sites based on the duties required.  Position Overview Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? Reston Association (RA) is seeking Pool Managers to join our Aquatics team! This position blends lifeguarding, pool operations, and staff management to ensure safe, efficient, and engaging aquatic experiences for our members and guests. Pool Managers are Lifeguard-certified and hold a Fairfax County-approved Pool Operator license. In addition to lifeguard and operator duties, they lead the team at their assigned pool by managing schedules, coordinating staff meetings and training, tracking performance, issuing citations, and supervising daily operations. Managers monitor facility conditions to ensure compliance with health and safety codes, including water chemistry, pool occupancy, and documentation. They also perform routine maintenance, enforce policies, and respond to emergencies. Daily tasks include staff scheduling, facility inspections, supply ordering, and customer service. Pool Managers work directly with their District Manager and are expected to collaborate and assist with duties when necessary.  Candidates must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, Water Safety Instructor certification, and Fairfax County-approved Pool Operator License (provided upon hire) and are expected to consistently demonstrate the skills outlined in their certification, adhere to all standards and protocols associated with it, and maintain its validity through ongoing compliance and renewal as required. This position offers 40+ hours per week, from May – September, with evening and weekend shifts required to support department operations and special events. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.  Hourly wage will be based on the candidate’s experience, education, and overall fit for the role. What you’ll bring:  * Age 18+ * A minimum of 2 years’ professional work experience * Commitment to full time hours for 8+ weeks during the pool season * Excited to commit to teach 2+ Group Swim Lesson sessions or 3+ private swim lesson clients * Confident, mature and well-spoken * Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety * Capacity to remain alert and focused in a busy outdoor environment * Passionate about creating a cohesive team with your pool staff  * Outgoing, professional and positive attitude * Ability to provide high-quality customer service to a diverse population * Physical ability to move up to 50 lbs, hear whistle alerts from 50 yards, see hand gestures from 25 yards. (Corrective eyewear and assistance devices are permitted) * Current certifications in: * American Red Cross Lifeguarding (training provided upon initial hire) * Fairfax County approved Pool Operators license (training provided upon initial hire) * Current or ability to obtain nationally recognized Water Safety Instructor certification (training provided upon initial hire) *Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor certifications obtained through Reston Association will be reimbursed once the course and hiring process are both completed.
