ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Aquaculture Operative, you’ll join a dedicated team caring for salmon stock at various stages of development - from hatchery to sea. Depending on your placement, you’ll work either on marine sites or freshwater hatcheries, supporting the health, welfare and growth of fish in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sea Site Technicians

• Feed and monitor fish appetite to optimise growth and feed conversion
• Operate manual and automatic feeding systems
• Check net integrity, remove mortalities, and record cause of death
• Support grading, splitting, and treatment operations
• Maintain walkways and uphold site cleanliness
• Relay instructions and support junior staff
• Participate in weekend rota

Hatchery Operatives

• Feed, grade, move, and vaccinate freshwater stock
• Monitor fish health and remove mortalities
• Record data and maintain site hygiene
• Support welfare and environmental standards
• Participating in rotational evening duties/on call
