ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Software Engineer - Machine Learning Co-op at Aquatic Informatics, you will become an integral member of the predictive analytics engineering team. Working in an Agile team, you will be exposed to the breadth of software engineering and data science activities with a specific focus on operationalizing algorithms being developed by the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution
• Passionate about the intersection of data science and software engineering
• Love to code – production code, test code, automation code, dev tooling code
• Thrive on using data to solve challenging technical problems
• Resourceful and independent, while being a contributing member of a collaborative team
• Constantly seek new ways to do things better
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
• Programming experience with at least one scientific language (bonus for Python) or object-oriented language (bonus for C#).
• Knowledge of JavaScript and front-end frameworks is desirable (e.g. Angular, AngularJS or React)
• Demonstrated interest in keeping up to date with current technology and engineering best practices
• Currently studying computer science, data science, software engineering, or a related discipline
• Completion of one or more previous co-op terms is an asset
