YOUR OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Aquatic Scientist to work from our Burnaby, Sidney, Terrace, or Quesnel, BC office on projects throughout British Columbia.
The successful candidate will join our team of aquatic specialists working on freshwater and marine fish and fish habitat, water quality, and ecological restoration field programs, baseline reporting, environmental assessment, and permit preparation. Aquatic ecology is a broad field, and our team comprises both generalists and specialists. We also collaborate closely with other technical teams at Stantec, such as those focused on water resources and ecological risk assessment. YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
B.Sc. in a biological or environmental field plus at least two years of work experience. OR M.Sc. In a relevant field plus at least one year of work experience.
Eligibility for Registered Professional Biologist designation with the College of Applied Biology.
Familiarity with federal and provincial legislation, such as the Fisheries Act and the Water Sustainability Act.

Stantec British Columbia’s standard work week is 37.5 hours. This position is eligible for overtime in the office and field for hours worked in accordance with British Columbia’s labour laws.
Our typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining relatively sedentary. Stantec offers a flexible work arrangement for desk-based tasks including working from Stantec office locations, working from home, or a mix depending on the situation. Field work may include exposure to inclement weather, and travel through rough and remote terrain, while carrying equipment.
