Description

The Aquatics Coordinator will assist the Association Aquatics Director with the overall planning, development, management and supervision of all aquatic’s programs of the branch. This position requires evening and weekend availability and functions as a 20-25 hour per week role. Knowledge of aquatic programming for youth, teens and adults is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Two years of college or equivalent experience in an aquatics position (preferred).
  2. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  3. Prior experience or training in staff supervision and management (preferred).
  4. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogens. (obtain within 60 days of hire)
  5. Current American Red Cross/YMCA Lifeguard and YUSA V6 Swim Instructor Certification (obtain within 60 days of hire)
  6. Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  7. Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  10. Must become proficient within 60 days in the use of ReClique Core

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of daily pool operations.
  • Assists the Director in the hiring, training, and supervision of all necessary personnel to deliver each program component.
  • Maintains records of attendance and monitors payments for each program participant.
  • Responsible for filling gaps in lifeguard and swim instructor schedules.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors, parents, and program participants while professionally handling member inquiries and concerns, including phone calls, call transfers, and escalating issues to the appropriate supervisor when necessary.
  • Oversee deck and safety management, ensuring daily chemical checks are accurately performed and recorded in coordination with lifeguards, along with completing required weekly and monthly safety inspections.
  • Maintains pool, equipment, and grounds to meet all necessary program and regulatory standards.
  • Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff and follow accident report procedures and policies.
  • Knowledgeable in pump room operations and equipment at all pool locations.
  • Manage inventory and submit supply order requests
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
