Qualifications: Possess current WSI, YSLI, or related job experience & current CPR Certification Basic Function: Responsible for the safety of participants during the program and deliver high quality & appropriate instruction to program participants. GENERAL Functions: Provide direct instruction in programs including but not limited to: YMCA Parent/child, Preschool, and Youth Swimming programs, and YMCA Gym and Swim programs. Assure that proper safety regulations and conditions are maintained. Maintain professional conduct and neat appearance consistent with the Aquatic Dress Policy. Keep updated skills sheets and lesson plans. Fill out progress reports thoroughly in a timely manner. Work effectively with children and adults in a learning situation based on individual needs. Have all equipment, skill sheets, and lesson plans ready for class. Teach with enthusiasm and using positive reinforcement. Instruct classes in accordance with YMCA policies, including covering all class components and using proper teaching techniques. Be aware of the other YMCA programs and schedules, sharing the information with participants. Always promote the YMCA mission Suggest improvements.
