Description

LOVE WORKING OUTDOORS AND SHAPING THE URBAN LANDSCAPE?

We’re a small, tight-knit team looking for a Consulting Arborist to join us in New York City. If you’re passionate about trees, care deeply about green spaces, and thrive in a role where you can work independently while being supported by a team that values your voice—you’ll fit right in.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As our Consulting Arborist, you’ll wear many hats, but always with one goal: helping NYC’s trees thrive. You’ll be out in the field most days, supervising tree-related work, keeping an eye on infrastructure projects near trees, and making sure the job is done right. You’ll also conduct inventories, identify species, check on tree health, and provide thoughtful recommendations. At the end of the day, you’ll document your findings in a way that helps us—and the city—make smart decisions about our urban forest.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee tree work and projects happening around trees across all five boroughs.
  • Inspect past work to ensure trees are cared for properly.
  • Carry out inventories, from identifying species to assessing health and recommending next steps.
  • Keep accurate notes and reports using Word and Excel.

Unlike big firms, we’re small and nimble. You won’t be lost in layers of management or stuck in a rigid system. Instead, you’ll have the freedom to manage your day, work outdoors, and feel real ownership in the projects you take on.

  • Fair pay that matches your experience and dedication.
  • Growth support—we’ll cover ISA exam fees for the right candidate.
  • Flexibility—we care about results, not punching a clock.
  • Impact—your work directly improves New York City’s neighborhoods.
  • The best perk? You get to be outside, doing meaningful work, while enjoying the independence of “being your own boss” in the field
