The Improvement Academy is seeking to appoint a senior researcher in the role as the Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration’s (YHARC) Implementation Programme Coordinator.
The YHARC is an NIHR Funded programme designed to support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems.
There are 15 ARCs across the country, fostering collaboration between NHS, social care, third sector and industry organisations, and leading universities. Their collective aim is to transform services, improve peoples’ health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities. Reflecting different regional priorities, different ARCs have different themes of research.

THE YHARC HAS FOUR CORE THEMES:

Early Life and Prevention
Older people with Frailty
Mental and Physical Multimorbidity
Urgent and Emergency Care
This new 12-month role will be central to the timely delivery and success of the Implementation Science programme. This is a ‘cross-cutting’ theme, and as such, you will have the opportunity to support and collaborate on projects with the core themes as well as the other cross-cutting theme, Health Economics, Evaluation and Equality.
You will work closely with senior team members to contribute to the delivery of the implementation science programme. This will include:
Establishing a robust project management framework to ensure timely delivery and success for all parts of the research programme and providing regular reports to the theme leads.
Providing leadership and line management to the Implementation Research Fellow.
Responsibility for study design, recruitment, data collection and analysis.
Promoting the theme and our finding through dissemination activities, such as writing blogs and publications (as the lead or a co-author), to optimise the impact of our work in the region.
Obtaining necessary ethical and governance approvals at project outset.
Engaging with patients, the public and healthcare staff to ensure our research meets their needs.
Support and training will be provided at all stages from across the ARC and Improvement Academy to help you to master the art of our implementation science research techniques.
There will also be the opportunity to work with Implementation and Improvement Practitioners to develop practical experience and the possibility to be involved in grant applications.
The Improvement Academy is the implementation arm of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration in Yorkshire and Humber. We provide implementation science support to teams across the region to support practical implementation to reduce the timeframe between theory and practice. We are a friendly team of improvement scientists, patient safety experts, clinicians and researchers with expertise in health services research, improvement and behavioural science, implementation and implementation science, and evaluation.
Our People Charter outlines the behaviours we can expect from one another and what you can expect from Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust:
We value people
We are one team
We care
We’re keen to meet people who share these values and are passionate about delivering the highest quality of care to our patients.
