We are looking for an Arcade Lead Engineer who wants to play a key role in shaping and scaling the technology behind our Arcade platform. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical expertise, architectural ownership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-moving and highly creative environment. Malta (Hybrid) or Remote from an EU-friendly time zone to ensure strong collaboration and working hour alignment with the team. Responsibilities Your day-to-day will include: Leading the technical direction and continuous improvement of the Arcade platform Designing and implementing scalable, robust, and reliable backend systems and platform architecture Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver new features and improvements Extending and improving existing frameworks and systems, including integrations with third-party services and games Driving engineering best practices focused on performance, reliability, maintainability, and scalability Researching and evaluating new technologies and contributing to architectural decisions Writing clean, testable, and well-documented code Implementing monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions to proactively detect and resolve issues Mentoring and supporting developers, helping grow both technical and domain expertise within the team Managing technical priorities, delivery expectations, and development workflows Performing code reviews and contributing to a strong engineering culture focused on quality, collaboration, and ownership Working in an agile and fast-paced environment with high impact and autonomy Qualifications You’re our ideal Arcade Lead Engineer if you: Have 5+ years of experience in backend development, platform engineering, or technical leadership roles Have experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring developers, or acting as a technical reference within a team Are proficient in backend technologies such as Python, Go, PHP, Java, or similar languages Have experience with modern frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular Have strong experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures Are familiar with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Have experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP Possess strong knowledge of software engineering principles, system design, and scalable architecture patterns Care deeply about software quality, engineering standards, and continuous improvement Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Can work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within international and cross-functional teams Have a strong command of written and spoken English Experience within iGaming, live casino, gaming platforms, or real-time systems is considered a strong advantage A degree in Information Technology or a related field is considered an advantage Other information What You Can Expect Flexible remote working environment Opportunity to work with a highly talented and international team High ownership and impact on product and technology Amazing people to work with – come see for yourself!
