SMMA is seeking an experienced Architect with 3-5 years of experience to join our team and contribute to the design and delivery of mission-critical facilities. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the unique requirements of these facilities, including data centers, electronics labs, control centers, and other highly technical environments. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual who can coordinate across teams to ensure seamless project execution on fast-track schedules. Flexibility and the ability to draw from experience to progress design in the absence of specific design criteria are an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of architectural experience, with at least 1 year focused on mission-critical or high-performance building projects.
  • Licensure: Registered Architect preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Revit, Teams, Bluebeam, and application related to the CA phase. Training is available from our internal Design Technology group.
  • Knowledge Base: Understanding of building systems, equipmentrequirements, and regulatory constraints associated with highly technical environments.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • DESIGN AND PLANNING:Support design efforts from concept through construction, ensuring that mission-critical considerations such as redundancy, resiliency, modularityand energy efficiency are integrated at every phase.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external teams, including engineering disciplines, sustainability experts, and technical consultants, to coordinate integrated solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop architectural details, focusing on integration and coordination of systems, structural integrity, safety, flexibility, and durability.
  • CODE COMPLIANCE:Understand applicable local, state, and federal building codes, and be aware of any specific regulatory requirements for mission-critical environments.
  • CLIENT INTERACTION:Participate in client reviews at design milestones to ensure design solutions meet or exceed expectations.
