Description
Architect / Architectural Designer – Residential Redesign (US Client | Remote) Location: Remote (LATAM preferred)** Engagement: Contract / Part-Time Start Date: Immediate No US license required — final permitting will be handled by a local professional About the Project We’re supporting a US homeowner who wants to redesign and expand their existing home. The project includes modifying current layouts, extending structural areas, adding new rooms, adjusting rooflines, and producing 2D/3D plans to visualize the new design before submission to a US-licensed professional. We do not require a US-licensed architect. Your job is to redesign, model, and prepare architectural drawings, and later a Texas-licensed professional will take those drawings and submit them for permitting. Role Summary You will take the homeowner’s ideas (videos, measurements, sketches, existing blueprints) and convert them into professional architectural redesigns. Your deliverables will include updated floor plans, elevations, sections, and 3D models that clearly show how the redesigned spaces will look and function. The Texas-licensed engineer/architect will later use your plans for code compliance, stamping, and permitting. Key Responsibilities Review existing layout and homeowner-provided videos describing the redesign vision. Redesign interior and exterior spaces, including: Third-floor addition with bedroom + bathroom Roofline extension and possible dormers Second-floor bedroom + full bath redesign Expanded deck and "bonus room" concepts Sunroom / screened-in patio addition with proper roofing Semi-open courtyard area with beams/pergola elements Produce updated architectural drawings: Floor plans Roof plans Elevations Sections Create detailed 3D models and visualizations that allow the homeowner to see the redesign before construction. Ensure designs follow general residential construction principles (load paths, plumbing adjacency, access, roof slope, etc.). Iterate quickly based on feedback. Prepare a “plan set” that a US-licensed professional can finalize, validate, and stamp for permitting. Requirements Must-Have Degree in Architecture, Architectural Design, or similar. 4+ years of experience in residential remodels and additions. Ability to interpret and modify existing house plans. Strong portfolio that includes remodels, attic/loft conversions, roofline modifications, or sunrooms. Proficiency with architectural and 3D modeling tools: AutoCAD SketchUp Revit Lumion / Twinmotion / Blender for rendering Solid understanding of residential construction fundamentals (bearing walls, framing logic, roofing systems, plumbing routing, etc.). Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with a US client. Soft Skills Strong spatial and architectural design intuition High attention to detail Fast iteration cycles Clear communication and expectation-setting Practical and feasibility-first approach What We Offer Remote, flexible work USD compensation Clear project brief and continuous feedback Opportunity to work on a meaningful residential redesign for a US homeowner No US license required — final permitting will be handled by a local professional
