JOB DESCRIPTION:

This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution aligned to the enterprise architecture strategy, technology, and platform choices. Key responsibilities include describing the solution intent/associated operating environment, evaluating system impacts, determining the primary systems/sub-systems and their interfaces, and assisting with end-to-end solution design. Job expectations include defining non-functional requirements/architectural runway to support new epics/features and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose by working with stakeholders and service providers.

The role of Architect for the Payments domain within the AES organization, involves the creation and maintenance of target application architecture strategy and roadmaps as defined in Blueprints along with creation of designs demonstrating the execution against this strategy. A resource in this role works with partners from the CIO organization to help define the direction of CBWT architecture for the next decade, adherence to and creation of enterprise principles and standards based on industry best practices and offering technical guidance on technical standards. The individual collaborates and influences Tech Leads and Architects across CBWT and the broader Enterprise. In an Architect role within AES supporting the Payments domain should:

• Understand Global Technology level capabilities and interactions.
• Have knowledge of the Payments domain, inclusive of Payments and Merchant Services.
• Have proven architecture experience in either Payments and/or Merchant Services.
• Ability to interact with domain level architecture resources within the CIO organization, gather and assess designs and comprise the holistic program level design.
• Is able to align solutions to architecture principles, to create AES deliverables supporting CIO domains.
• Is able to work on multiple deliverables simultaneously, displaying effective time management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10+ years of experience in developing technology solutions of which 5+ years in Architecture.
• Academic education in Technology/Engineering disciplines, or equivalent experience
• Proficient in areas of SOA, API services, multi-channel services and events
• Proficient in defining solutions to solve large scale, complex business problems with high resiliency, scalability, performance, and concurrency requirements.
• Proficient in researching and understanding new technology solutions and present essential comparisons, pros/cons, and target use cases.
• Adept at IT operations, Agile Methodology, Software Development Lifecycle, and Systems Architectures
• Proficient in collaborating with business and technical resources to understand and develop solutions that meet business requirements, translating strategy and objectives when necessary.
• Be a thought-leader.
• Be open minded and inclusive seeking diverse opinions.
• Proficient in leading discussions in a matrix environment focusing on team and organizational success.
• Proficient in representing architecture in various architecture forums within the enterprise.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in Digital Banking solutions, Workflow & Robotic Process Automation, and Data Analytics including Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
• Experience in Cloud Native Solutions, Containers.
• Software design and development experience in modern programming languages.
• Knowledge in Continuous Integration/Deployment and Container automation.
• Proficient in providing recommendations supported by Alternative Architecture Analysis (AAA, Proof-of-Concept (POC), Vendor evaluation & other methods that substantiate the proposals and recommendations.
• Knowledge and experience with working in an agile SDLC methodology environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Consults with the business and operations to identify and understand challenges and opportunities to improve the use and effectiveness of technology, find creative solutions through knowledge of the domain, practical experiments, and Proof of Concepts, and aligns the solution intent and architectural vision to an evolving backlog of technology change
• Works with product management and other stakeholders to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features
• Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (for example, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability)
• Leads rapid shaping of a high level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements and ensures architecture is flexible, modular, and designed to adapt easily
• Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions
• Clarifies the architecture and assists with system design for the development teams to support implementation and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments
• Utilizes the defined best practices, templates, and documentation to create architectural designs and suggests improvements to best practices and templates
