Description

UCLA Housing is seeking a talented and motivated junior designer to join our Project Management team. We are a small office of designers, architects, and construction managers who focus on projects for UCLA student and faculty housing, dining facilities, hotels, and conference centers located both on and off campus. As Architectural Associate, you will work under the guidance of the Associate Architects, Interior Designer, and Design Director. Primary responsibilities include exploring design solutions, building digital models, preparing presentations, coordinating with consultants, developing construction documents, and maintaining project workflows from concept design through construction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years demonstrated professional architecture experience (Required)
  • 2 years experience working on design development and construction drawings (Required)
  • Working experience and proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. (Required)
  • Strong abilities in design, space planning, material & product research, and graphic presentations. (Required)
  • Basic familiarity with building industry standards, practices, and codes. (Required)
  • Ability and flexibility to manage work across multiple projects. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently, reliably, and with initiative, exercising good judgment and following through on tasks with minimal supervision. (Required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and tactfully with project teams, department/University personnel at various levels, and with the public. (Required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to learn and navigate University forms, policies, and procedures. (Required)
  • Ability to stand, climb, stoop, push, pull, and crouch for an extended period of time and to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds as required when reviewing project assignments. (Required)
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license. (Required)
  • Experience with hospitality, multi-family residential, and/or educational projects. (Preferred)
  • Proficiency with Rhino, Enscape, Sketchup, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite. (Preferred)

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & PERSONAL AFFILIATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited institution. (Required)
  • Master’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)
