ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN TECHNICIAN BIRMINGHAM

CK Architectural is a multi-award-winning architectural business operating across Yorkshire and the UK, delivering design and build management. We are looking for an experienced Design Technician to support our Senior Architects and Technical Leads.

SKILLS

Full proficiency in AutoCAD
Personal Vehicle
Attention to detail
Ability to assess, check, and survey buildings
All activities, procedures, and systems are to be carried out as outlined in the Company Operation Handbook, drawings are to be in the ‘style’ of the Company.
All activities on Projects are to be logged, tasked, and recorded to keep the team operation running. We are continuously striving to improve and invite all staff to make notes of any areas in which they think improvements can be made, which can then be discussed in the Drawing Review meeting, or Company Systems meetings, which have already taken place to discuss and implement changes. Our company can only grow through its staff.

EDUCATION:

  • BTEC, HND or equivalent, an advantage

EXPERIENCE:

  • Architecture: minimum 5 years
Responsibilities

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Design Technician, you will be required to undertake detailed surveys, design to brief, prepare planning applications, and building regulations drawings.
Communicate regularly with clients, consultants, and senior designers. Be able to work as part of the team and at times take projects from survey through to build-ready drawing packages.

PRIMARY ROLE

  • Take a detailed, measured survey.
  • Produce design drawings and liaise with the client in person, by Teams, or email to conclude the design.
  • Understand the planning processes and application types
  • Produce planning application drawings and submit via the planning portal
  • Fully understand the UK building regulations
  • Produce Building Regulation Compliant Drawings
  • Have a basic knowledge of building and site procedures
  • Maintain a good relationship with clients before, during, and after the project
  • Solve issues where possible and keep the client in a happy opinion of CKA

SECONDARY ROLES

  • 3D drawing would be a bonus, but is not essential
  • Marketing and Sales assistance
  • When asked to provide blog information, media, or technical information
  • Aid company promotion via social media
