Position Summary: JJ Drafting is seeking a meticulous and skilled Architectural Draftsperson to join
our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed
drawings and documentation to support residential and commercial building projects. This role
involves translating architectural concepts and sketches into compliant construction documentation,
using advanced CAD and drafting software. The Draftsperson will collaborate closely with architects,
engineers, and consultants to ensure that designs meet all relevant building codes, regulations, and
technical standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically proficient professional to
contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality architectural projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare comprehensive and accurate architectural documentation packages, including
plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules, using ArchiCAD.
Develop and manage 3D models within a Building Information Modelling (BIM) environment.
Interpret and apply the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, and local
planning controls to all drawings.
Collaborate closely with the project Senior Architectural Designer to ensure the design
intent is accurately reflected in the technical documentation.
Coordinate architectural drawings with documentation from engineering and other
specialist consultants to ensure a fully integrated design.
Manage drawing revisions, maintain document registers, and ensure adherence to the firm’s
drafting standards.
Assist in resolving technical queries from builders and suppliers under the direction of the
Senior Architectural Designer.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural), or equivalent vocational
qualification from a TAFE or accredited RTO.
Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience as an Architectural Draftsperson within an
Australian architectural or building design practice.
A strong portfolio demonstrating advanced technical skills in producing construction
documentation for Australian residential and/or commercial projects.
Expert-level proficiency in ArchiCAD, with the ability to work at production speed.
Thorough understanding of Australian construction methods, materials, and relevant
building codes and standards.
Skills & Competencies:
Meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to producing accurate and high-
quality documentation.
Strong technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to detect drawing
inconsistencies and resolve coordination clashes.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
