Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Architectural Intern to be based in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Document review and inter-disciplinary coordination
  • Develop or assist in the development of studies, programs, concepts, preliminary and final plans and specifications for projects of varying type and scale
  • Prepare, review and approve drawing, specifications and other documentation as required. These will range from design presentations documents to technical documents for building permit, tender and construction and technical reports
  • Ensure designs are developed in compliance with client program of requirements and in compliance with local codes, standards and applicable regulations
  • Ensure designs are developed in accordance with AECOM processes, design and quality standards
  • Lead project coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, both internal to AECOM and external. Provides leadership by coordinating the work of others
  • Interface with clients, authorities and other project participants as needed to achieve a successful project
  • Work with AECOM design offices across the country, including participation in project teams and overall development of the design and technical quality of AECOM projects
  • Proactively identifies and advocates for improvements to existing processes and procedures. Adjusts to new processes or changing assignments, and considers alternative approaches to complete work
  • Completes assigned work independently and receives general guidance and direction on new projects, tasks and priorities
  • Checks own work and the work of others
  • Team player with the ability to work within a team environment

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum:
  • No less than a University Degree in Architecture + Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Architect

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference for those with over two years of experience as a Registered Architect
  • Experience with Science & Technology laboratories and facilities is a definite asset.
  • LEED certification and familiarity with AAA/AIBC/OAQ/AIA are highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, BIM, MS Office, Adobe Suite, and strong communication abilities are essential.
