ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE POSITION DESCRIPTION

Woodwork Institute is the authoritative source of industry standards and information for the architectural woodwork community. Our core purpose is to assure excellence and craftsmanship in woodwork through the development of standards and enforcement of such through certification programs. Across America architects rely on our certification programs to ensure that their architectural millwork specifications are being met.
Founded in 1955 as a small group of wood window manufacturers competing against the new aluminum framed window manufacturers, Woodwork Institute quickly grew into a standard setting organization and then into a certification body, dedicated to ensuring that quality millwork was provided on each project. Do you complement our team? The Architectural Services Representative (ASR) must have a passion for quality, a talent for building excellent relationships with architects and support staff, a background in sales and extensive knowledge of the architectural millwork industry.
General Purpose of Job The primary responsibilities of the Architectural Services Representatives are to conduct woodworking inspections and to explain the fabrication requirements needed to meet the requirements of our certification programs. Additionally, the ASR will meet with architects and specifiers to market the Woodwork Institute’s programs and services. Architectural Services Representatives are the primary point of contact for their territory and must establish and maintain good working relationships with all architects, engineers, specification writers and design professionals in his/her territory and demonstrate to those customers our desire to provide the highest level of professional services available.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Ability to:
1. Read, analyze, and interpret general business information, technical procedures, and government regulations
2. Read architectural drawings and specifications
3. Write reports and business correspondence
4. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
5. Use Microsoft Office Applications and data entry business platforms

Responsibilities

The Territory Representative must:
1. Act as the primary point of contact for architects, engineers, specification writers and design professionals.
a. Provide answers to questions pertaining to specifications, details, products, fabrication, and quality issues as per the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards
b. Review specifications and shop drawings upon request
c. Communicate requirements for new projects that require certification
d. Share onformation regarding our certification programs and the benefits
e. Conduct AIA continuing education seminars
2. Act as the primary point of contact for Affiliates.
a. Communicate information regarding affiliation, the certification process, industry, or organizational changes
b. Provide guidance regarding the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards
c. Answer questions regarding specifications, details, products, fabrication, quality issues
3. Work with multiple software platforms to provide consistent reporting.
4. Ability to manage multiple projects in a defined geographical area under management supervision.
5. Assist with discovering contractual parties and updating statuses for projects
6. Attend association meetings and trade shows
7. Organize area meetings for Affiliates and architectural firms
8. Be able to travel up to 50%, to include overnight stays
