ABOUT US

At Happy Planet Homes, “we design and build contemporary styled homes in Edmonton and surrounding areas. Our process and approach is simple: get to know what our clients want in their new home and bring that to reality.” The team brings over 14 years of experience in development projects, demonstrating keen attention to detail, strong design focus, and efficient operations—enabling us to consistently exceed client expectations. Our mission is simple: “build homes for the present and future.” We deliver desirable layouts, luxury finishings, and customized lifestyles through hands-on client collaboration, all while maintaining affordability. Our core principle is offering ongoing client support, customization options, and consistent luxury finishes—from duplexes to custom single-family layouts.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a dedicated Architectural Technologist to join our design and drafting team. In this role, you’ll produce precise, permit-ready construction drawings for both residential and light commercial projects. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to keep designs aligned with project goals, municipal requirements, and client needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate construction drawings—floorplans, elevations, sections, and site plans—ensuring they’re build-ready.
  • Apply design standards, architectural guidelines, and redline markups to delivery-ready drawings.
  • Update model drawings as needed to incorporate new design features, structural changes, or municipality requirements.
  • Manage drawing accuracy, consistency, and version control across multiple projects (residential and light commercial).
  • Work closely with internal teams—design, construction, estimating, permitting—to align drawings with project objectives.
  • Respond to technical queries during construction and support on-site coordination.
  • Participate in design review and model development meetings to enhance processes and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with engineers and consultants to integrate structural and mechanical elements into final plans.
  • Produce permit-ready drawing sets and aid in submitting documentation to municipalities or developers.
  • Maintain organized digital filing of plans, templates, approvals, and revisions.
  • Keep up-to-date with regulatory changes and adapt standard documentation accordingly.
