Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking a Architectural Supervisor to join our Kitchener, ON team.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum:

  • A University Degree in Architecture plus six years (6) of experience working within an Architectural practice.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD and the suites MS Office and Adobe Creative.
  • Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer 6 – 8 years of experience working within an Architectural practice, including experience within an Architectural practice.
  • Familiarity with researching local zoning and other bylaws requirements for local jurisdictions, and application to project requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Experience in institutional, transit, public safety/defence, heritage, and industrial projects.
  • Sustainable Design experience including zero carbon design and familiarity with the CAGBC Zero Carbon Building program.
  • Experience in delivering projects in an Integrated Design Process (IDP) environment
  • Experience in delivering projects with the use of a construction management software such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Certifications in LEED, WELL, PASSIVE HOUSE or similar accreditation
  • Proficiency in rendering, presentation and analytical software such as SketchUp, Grasshopper, Rhino
  • Extensive, progressive experience in architecture.
  • Experience in project management, comfortable with coordinating projects that touch multiple disciplines including civil engineering and environmental, dealing with financials, scheduling and work planning.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Excellent communications skills for interfacing with clients.
Responsibilities
  • Performs various responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of architecture.
  • Plans and develops architectural tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Supervises group of architects and/or designers, coordinating activities of the unit.
