Description

THE SERVICE

We are recruiting for a professionally qualified archivist to work as part of the Archives and Cornish Studies team based at Kresen Kernow ( Kresen Kernow – A home for Cornwall’s archives ), the archive centre for Cornwall. The collection includes the usual range of local authority archives, dating from the 12 th century to the present day, as well as an extensive Cornish studies library.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The archivist role includes a wide range of professional duties, from responding to customer enquiries, oversight of the reading room and strongroom security, to dealing with depositors, accessioning and cataloguing, and supporting our outreach programmes. The archivists work closely with other colleagues in the front-facing public service, as part of a small, friendly and highly motivated team.
This is a public and customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.
