  • Educated to a degree level desirable but not essential

Relevant Experience

  • At least 5 years leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring of aspiring leaders and senior colleagues
  • Proven track record of delivering results
  • Strong people skills including bringing together diverse teams
  • Multi-site management
  • A broad healthcare knowledge would be preferable although not essential

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

  • Position: Area Director (AD) – Field Based role (hybrid of working from home and travel)
  • Reports To: Country CEO
  • Direct Reports: Area Support Manager (ASM), Clinical Directors
  • Contract: Permanent, Full-time
  • Core Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Salary: Highly competitive and rewarding, plus a company car

MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

This role will play a critical role in delivering against these 6 outcomes.
You would also be expected to drive the delivery of excellent clinical quality, client care, operational effectiveness and commercial outcomes. Working collaboratively with central support teams to motivate, lead and embed our values and company culture to retain and engage the best clinical talent within the veterinary profession.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading by example, influence and motivate CDs, PMs, and other practice leaders to develop strong, positive relationships with their teams and pursue opportunities to enhance leadership within and across practices to drive performance, efficiency and optimisation
  • Calibrate clinics and improve the underperforming clinics by identifying areas of need and supporting with fixing
  • Create ‘networking’ within areas so that likeminded practices can benefit from learning from one another, providing leadership to ensure resources are shared across practices as and when required
  • Identify and nurture talent to ensure strong succession planning and career development opportunities, highlighting career pathways for all
  • Ensure a positive and healthy no blame culture is adopted in each practice that celebrates collaborative working, allows for practice leaders to take accountability and identifies issues and risks that could impact wellbeing putting early interventions in place to stop issues escalating
  • Improve practice capacity and staffing shortfalls by engaging with and supporting work force management systems and processes
  • Coach and culture values that provide support to colleagues within practice to embed a positive culture and high levels of employee engagement
  • Identify and implement opportunities for practice growth and development, working closely with Central Support teams to deliver projects and initiatives that enhance practice performance, client care and the employee experience
  • Drive IVC Evidensia internal comms, ensuring information is cascaded to all staff and that they are clear on our strategy and well informed of business activities and initiatives, allowing for 2-way communication for clear feedback routes for all
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical colleagues to ensure compliance with external regulatory standards and to oversee the delivery of a premium client experience including complaint escalation and resolution
  • Encourage progressive clinical knowledge sharing via an area wide culture of community learning, where peer to peer learning inspires innovative new ways of working and raises standards of clinical and client care
  • Accountable for area P&L performance (cost management, budget development) and performance management, supporting the annual financial planning activities by assisting practices to create accurate yet challenging budgets and deliver against financial and non-financial KPIs
  • Oversee the smooth integration of new acquisitions into the Area, making them feel part of the wider IVC Evidensia business
  • Carry out such additional duties or operational project work as may be reasonably required
