POSITION SUMMARY:

The Area General Manager at Ivy Hospitality serves as the immediate support and performance leader for a cluster of hotels, typically overseeing four or more General Managers across multiple Hilton, Marriott, IHG, and Hyatt brands (role specific). This role is also assigned to a designated hotel as the acting General Manager. The Area GM ensures the successful execution of operational, guest, and team performance across the area, while serving as a critical mentor, brand steward, and strategic partner in driving hotel-level excellence. This position requires a seasoned leader who is collaborative, decisive, and hands-on—with a demonstrated ability to lead through others while holding high standards of accountability and care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel leadership experience, including multi-property oversight or senior hotel executive experience.
  • Prior leadership experience with Hilton and/or Marriott select service and extended stay brands strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing hotel teams and improving financial, guest, and team performance across multiple units.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach and influence hotel leaders at all levels.
  • Advanced understanding of hotel operations, financial planning, and brand compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, travel within the assigned area, and operate with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Provide direct leadership to assigned hotel as General Manager, while also supporting a sub-portfolio of hotels under your area leadership.
  • Partner with the Regional Director of Operations to ensure brand compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across all hotels in the area.
  • Serve as an escalation point and leadership coach to hotel General Managers, offering guidance on guest satisfaction, financial performance, service delivery, and staffing challenges.
  • Lead and participate in new hire onboarding and training of General Managers and leadership team members across the area.
  • Monitor guest experience scores, brand quality audits, and team performance metrics across area hotels; develop and execute action plans to drive improvement.
  • Partner with corporate sales and revenue teams to support top-line performance and ensure local execution of promotional, pricing, and sales strategies.
  • Collaborate with hotel GMs to ensure labor management, cost control, and budget adherence align with Ivy’s financial expectations.
  • Conduct regular property visits to maintain visibility, assess service quality, and reinforce Ivy’s values in day-to-day leadership.
  • Assist in the rollout of company initiatives and training programs at the property level, ensuring adoption and follow-through.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning across all assigned hotels.
  • Serve as a talent pipeline developer by identifying and growing future leaders from within the hotel teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, brand requirements, and all state/federal regulations at all properties.
