Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage   A career in the National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) has many rewards, including the opportunity to work in some of the most beautiful places in the country.  NPWS Castlereagh Area is seeking an Area Manager to lead the team!    About the role Castlereagh Area protects 33 parks from bases at Baradine and Coonabarabran NSW.  It covers the tall montane Coolah Tops, extensive Pilliga Forests, popular Warrumbungle National Park,  and internationally recognised Macquarie Marshes.  The area manages a variety of campgrounds and walking tracks and there are two NPWS managed visitor centres.  The Area Manager oversees up to 31 staff based in Coonabarabran, Warrumbungle National Park, Baradine, Gunnedah, and the Macquarie Marshes.  The Area Manager is a supporter and participant in two Joint Management Committees, Deriah and Pilliga Gawaambaraay. This is a key leadership role delivering conservation programs, visitor services and infrastructure management.  Working as part of the Northern Inland Branch management team, you will lead and manage highly committed and cohesive team implementing park management programs across a variety of national parks and reserves as well as working with diverse stakeholders.  Package $167,707-$193,954, depending on experience, includes base salary ($149,739-$173,174), employer’s contribution to super plus annual leave loading.   NPWS is committed to building a robust pipeline of talent and ensuring strong representation of women in leadership roles.
