Description DREMC is seeking an Area Manager. BE A PART OF POWERING SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE! Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) is a member-owned electric cooperative, serving an area of approximately 2,500 square miles across 17 counties in southern middle Tennessee. Location: Chapel Hill, TN Reports to: Director, Lewisburg Operations Job purpose: The Area Manager consistently displays the work ethic and models the behaviors conducive to the desired DREMC culture. The Area Manager supports the manager to ensure delivery of safe, reliable and economical electric service to the members of the Cooperative. Area Managers are leaders in the communities in which they serve. Job Dimensions: Supervisory Responsibility: The Area Manager is accountable for the safety, productivity, and culture of assigned Area Office personnel, which typically consists of one line crew. Success requires strong partnerships with a management team that report to the Director, {Location} Operations as well as meaningful partnerships with other management team and the President and CEO. Budget Responsibility: Work with manager on Area budgets to include capital improvements, vehicles, materials, tools and personnel. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Must be able and willing to lead on a consistent basis. 2. Consistently demonstrates an intense intellectual curiosity that is guided by sound judgment in the best interests of DREMC. 3. Aptitude to create, facilitate, or champion solutions and practical implementation to benefit Members and Employees. 4. Oversees daily safety and productivity of area personnel while creating a TEAM environment. 5. Studies, learns and consistently applies DREMC policies, procedures, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, and rate schedules. 6. Provides exceptional member service to answer inquiries and resolve complaints involving member accounts. 7. Inspects field constructions in progress and complete work orders. 8. Coordinates service restoration procedures during emergency situations, as needed. 9. Supports programs to systematically inspect system power lines and facilities including annual pole testing. 10. Analyzes, and confirms accuracy of various daily, monthly, and yearly reports. 11. Assists personnel in construction of line extensions and aids regarding service changes, temporary service, and switching needs. 12. Reviews invoices for contractor work related to the assigned district, approving, and correcting as necessary. 13. Responsible for reviewing and approving payroll time. 14. Conducts accurate and consistent employee performance evaluations while maintaining a productive and professional atmosphere by coaching, training, and motivating employees. 15. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply NESC, OSHA, DOT and PUC rules, procedures and guidelines relating to administration and management of electrical systems and facilities. 16. Maintenance of an attitude which displays an awareness of DREMC’s goals and vision. 17. Keeps their manager informed regarding potential or suspected problem areas which could adversely affect DREMC. 18. Maintains confidentiality where appropriate in context of employee and member inquires with sensitivity and respect. 19. Must offer and solicit feedback daily 20. Consistently models the Leadership Principles of Leadership Landmines, 8 Management Catastrophes & How to Avoid Them. 21. Emergency response coverage as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education — A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary degree from an accredited college/university is preferred. Experience— Must have two successful years in one or more of the following roles: electric crew line foreman, electric utility superintendent role, electric utility engineering experience, electric utility control center experience, electric utility right of way experience, electric utility planning experience, electric utility safety experience. Certification/License, etc. — Certificates and/or licenses relevant to utilities, customer service, office management, financial services, etc. are preferred. Completion of a supervisor training program. (e.g. TVPPA Certificate of Power Supervisor) is preferred. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License or ability to obtain license prior to first day of employment is required. Maybe required to obtain Commercial Driver’s License with Class A endorsement. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — An understanding of the electric utility industry and line work procedures desired. Aptitude to gain an in-depth knowledge of the business and financial functions related to the electric utility business model. Possesses excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to deal with a variety of internal and external contacts. Phenomenal listening skills with high observation prowess. Ability to consistently achieve multiple deadlines with ownership of the process and results achieved therein. Physical Requirements: Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and travel between office locations, district sites, and field operations. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., laptops, binders, or field equipment). Requires sufficient visual acuity to read reports, view computer screens, and observe field conditions. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via email. Occasional physical activity may include walking across uneven terrain, climbing stairs, or standing for extended periods during inspections, site visits, or meetings. Work Environment: This position splits time between a professional office environment and operational or field sites. Office environment is climate-controlled with standard lighting, low to moderate noise levels, and extensive use of computers and office equipment. Field visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, utility operations, construction zones, energized equipment, and uneven terrain. Occasional travel within the service territory is required for supervisory duties, inspections, employee oversight, community engagement, or emergency response. The role requires flexibility to respond to after-hours operational needs or emergencies as necessary.
