ABOUT THE ROLE
CatholicCare’s Permanency Support Program listens to the voices of young people in our care, recognises their uniqueness and tailor’s responses to their individual needs. We build safe and engaged pathways through our broad suite of services and develop strong links to communities that support our young people beyond the bounds of Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC).
An exciting, new position has now been created for a skilled & experienced Area Manager – Independent Living to join our Central Coast team on a full-time, permanent basis. The main objective of the role is to supervise a small team and coordinating the Therapeutic Supported Independent Living (TSIL) Program and its dedicated team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that young people transitioning to independence receive comprehensive support aligned with the principles of Intensive Therapeutic Care.
As part of the role, you will promote best practice outcomes by fostering positive attitudes and lifestyle choices among young people, effectively managing and mitigating risks, and adhering to CatholicCare’s safeguarding and WHS requirements. This role will play a key part in empowering young people to achieve independence and thrive in their communities.
Due to nature of our operations, this role requires the incumbent to be flexibility to work after hours and at weekends when participating in the 24/7 on-call system (providing phone and/or onsite support as required), and to work as part of the House roster to meet the requirements of consistent, qualified and trained staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Management and Development – oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the TSIL/SIL Program.
- Lead and manage the Youth Workers and Living Skills Workers, providing regular team and individual regular supervision including discussions with individuals around the implementation of self-care plans.
- Quality Assurance – ensuring compliance with incident management and mandatory reporting.
- Management of programs finances and budgets, administration, client records.
- Safeguarding and Risk Management – promote an environment that is safe for children and vulnerable adults, free from hard and promote staff commitment to safeguarding.
- Support of Young people with independent living and fulfilment of case plans and associated goals for young people in the program.
- Stakeholder engagement & interagency collaboration.
- Any other suitable duties as directed by Management.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:
- Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Social Welfare, including electives on trauma, OR relevant Diploma & Graduate Certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a similar role with high risk or vulnerable children and young people in an out of home care environment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading, supervising, mentoring and coaching multi-disciplinary teams.
- A well-developed understanding of Out of Home Care Services, Intensive Therapeutic Care, Child protection and support in NSW and experience in their practical application.
- Strong youth engagement and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage crisis situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to EEO, WHS, risk management and quality improvement practices.
- Current Driver’s Licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
