COULD YOU BE THE LEADER WHO PULLS US TOGETHER?

At Peabody, we believe in more than just housing, we believe in home. For our older residents, home is a place of safety, dignity, and community. And behind every welcoming scheme is a team of dedicated Scheme Managers, led by someone who brings out their best.
That someone could be you.
We’re looking for an Area Manager who doesn’t just manage people, they inspire them. Someone who leads with kindness, acts with integrity, and knows how to bring a diverse team together to deliver exceptional housing services.
You’ll be responsible for around six schemes across London, supporting a team of up to 10 Scheme Managers. These schemes have a history of anti-social behaviour, and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate confidence in managing this, while empowering Scheme Managers to respond effectively and sensitively. Strong people management skills are essential, particularly in supporting staff through challenging situations and maintaining a values-led team culture. That’s why we need someone with resilience, empathy, and a strong understanding of tenancy management and housing operations.

You’ll be the kind of leader who:

  • Keeps promises – You do what you say you will, and your team trusts you for it.
  • Celebrates diversity – You value different perspectives and create a sense of belonging.
  • Loves new ideas – You’re curious, open to change, and always looking to improve.
  • Does the right thing – You act in the best interests of residents, even when it’s tough.
  • Pulls people together – You collaborate, especially when challenges arise.

This is a hands-on, operational role. You’ll be out visiting schemes, supporting your team, managing complaints, leading on health and safety, and empowering your staff to tackle issues like anti-social behaviour with confidence.
A car might help, but what matters most is your ability to lead with heart and purpose.
