The Area Manager is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to multiple branches within an assigned region. This position will work directly with Branch managers and other staff to ensure that efficient and effective operations of the branches including safety, sales, rentals, operations, customer service, and staff development in accordance with Rain for Rent’s objectives. Develops new business; provides a superior level of customer relations and promotes the sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation; achieves Area and branch sales goals through sales and retention of account relationships. Summary: This Area Manager is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to multiple branches within an assigned region. (Specifically branches located in Virginia, Maryland, New York and Massachusetts.) This position will work directly with Branch managers and other staff to ensure that efficient and effective operations of the branches including safety, sales, rentals, operations, customer service, and staff development in accordance with Rain for Rent’s objectives. Develops new business; provides a superior level of customer relations and promotes the sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation; achieves Area and branch sales goals through sales and retention of account relationships. Provides leadership, training, and supervision; delegates day to day operations to respective Branch personnel. Participates in community affairs to increase Rain for Rent’s visibility and to enhance new and existing business opportunities. Serves as a liaison to the Corporate office to ensure that communication flows effectively from branches to Corporate and from Corporate to branches. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Execute Company “Mission, Vision, and Values” within assigned branch locations. * Maintain a safe and consistent working environment throughout the Area. * Exceed branch budgetary goals and objectives. * Develop, mentor and train branch staff. * Hold Branch Managers accountable to execute Corporate Sales and Marketing Strategy consisting of salesman specific assigned sales plans; territories; and market goals and objectives. * Achieve year over year revenue and market segment growth. * Maximize profits by working with local branch management to execute standard operating procedures and keep operating expenses in proportion to revenue. * Forecast future equipment and personnel demands to position Rain for Rent in the dominate position among rental companies servicing the assigned territory. * Promote market awareness of Rain for Rent in the assigned territory. * Identify and promote new product or service opportunities. * Assist Branch and Regional Managers improve customer service. * Attend industry related events to maintain/update knowledge personal base. * Travel is required: frequent face to face meetings with direct reports and their respective staffs are essential. * Perform all other duties as assigned. Other competencies: * Able to perform all duties effectively in high-stress and priority-shifting situations. * Able to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. * Able to travel a minimum of 50% of the time. * Motivated to prospect and follow up on leads and to identify and actively pursue competitor’s customers. Supervisory Responsibilities: * Manages 5 or more direct reports. * Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of branch. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. * Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
