We have a great growth opportunity for a reliable and customer service-focused manager to join our Janitorial Services team in creating safe and welcoming environments for our clients and their customers.
Reporting to the General Manager – Retail Janitorial, this role contributes to ensuring outstanding and quality services are delivered in keeping with SDA’s high standards of performance.
Key Results and Activities

Experience:

• Commercial cleaning service delivery: 3 years (preferred)
• Janitorial services supervision: 3 years (preferred)
• Vendor management: 2 years (preferred)
• Grocery cleaning service delivery: 1 year (preferred)
• Janitorial equipment and product training: 3 years (preferred)
• Health and Safety Certification: 1 year (preferred

ROLE DEVELOPMENT

• Additional duties as assigned in line with SDA Building Services Inc. and individual goals

Qualifications and Experience Needed to Succeed in this Role

• Previous commercial janitorial and property maintenance experience
• Familiarity with floor stripping, waxing and recoating methods for commercial buildings
• An approachable and collaborative style with the ability to work with individuals in different roles
• Able to train team members in the use of equipment such as auto-scrubbers and propane burnishers
• WHMIS as well as Health and Safety certification is an asset
• Ability to travel across Ontario to supervise the delivery of services. This may require overnight stays in communities outside of the GTA
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and nights as needed for supervision of service delivery
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities using sound judgment
• Remains calm and focused in emergencies
• Dependability, strong work ethic, and self-motivation
• Strong attention to detail and responsiveness to changing priorities
• Passion for a job well done and making a difference
• Proficient English speaking and writing skills; other languages are an asset
• Strength to lift, as part of daily tasks, items up to 50 lbs./23 kg
• Capability to perform work requiring standing, walking, crouching bending, kneeling as well as repetitive tasks
• Eligibility to work in Canada
• Class G Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
• Intermediate level computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Acrobat Adobe, Excel, and Word as well as familiarity with other enterprise platforms

Follows the manager’s responsibilities of the SDA Building Services Inc. Health & Safety Policy, including

• Ensuring health and safety policies and practices are established and implemented throughout all of SDA Building Services Inc.’s client sites
• Takes all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of team members, client employees, and the public
• Identifying any potential or actual danger, hazard, or infractions to the General Manager promptly
• Reporting all incidents, accidents, workplace injuries or illnesses immediately to the General Manager
• Conducts workplace inspections at least once per month to identify and evaluate hazard

As this is a management role, the Area Manager – Retail Janitorial will:

• Stay aware of current or potential crises that may require situation-specific responses outside of regular working hours
• Use judgment to respond to phone calls or voice messages needing an immediate response due to a safety or emergency issue
