Closing Date 26/11/2025 Job Title: Area Manager Job type- Secondment/ Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months Location: Otterbourne- Hampshire- Travel to sites will be required therefore driving license is essential Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (however depending on skills and experience) Permanent Hours: 37 We’re offering a dynamic 12-month fixed term opportunity for a motivated and proactive individual to step into the role of Area Manager, providing critical operational support across the region. Reporting into the Regional Operations Manager, this is a development opportunity designed to build leadership capacity and prepare you for the next tier of management. This role is ideal for someone with operational knowledge, line management experience, and a keen desire to succeed. You’ll be at the forefront of supporting Field Performance Managers (FPMs) in the day-to-day operation of our water supply works and teams. Your role will ensure they are supported, coordinated, and empowered to deliver consistently especially as we prepare for the complex and high-profile projects emerging from Otterbourne, a key site in Hampshire’s water supply strategy. You’ll also help create space for senior leaders to focus on strategic project work, while gaining exposure to a wide range of stakeholders, departments, and leadership forums. Key Responsibilities will include: Operational Support: Act as a key support for FPMs, helping manage daily activities and ensuring operational continuity Leadership Continuity: Deputise for the Regional Operations Manager during absences, maintaining team momentum and decision-making capability Team Coordination: Lead regular meetings with FPMs, Technical Coordinators (TCs), and internal stakeholders to align priorities and share updates Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with departments across the business, gaining exposure to strategic projects and cross-functional collaboration Coaching & Development: Support team development through mentoring, feedback, and identifying growth opportunities Risk & Compliance: Ensure Health & Safety, Water Quality, Environmental, and financial risks are proactively managed Change Leadership: Champion company initiatives and help drive business change through inclusive leadership and strategic thinking Culture Building: Promote a collaborative, learning-focused culture and help build resilient, future-ready teams What We’re Looking For: Strong operational knowledge and experience in line or operational management (e.g., Control Centre, TC, internal teams) Proven leadership and communication skills Ability to manage competing priorities and support operational delivery Experience in coaching, mentoring, and team development A proactive, dynamic approach to problem-solving and stakeholder engagement Desire to grow into senior leadership roles Development Opportunity This secondment is a stepping stone into senior leadership, offering exposure to strategic decision-making, complex project delivery, and high-level stakeholder engagement.
