We’re hiring an Area Safety Specialist who builds trust in the field, partners with leaders, and helps create safe, healthy, and compliant work environments across the region. In this role, you’ll work closely with local leaders and the Safety Manager to bring our safety standards to life. You’ll help implement policies, lead by example in the field, and support our teams and customers in creating safe, compliant, people-first work zones. Traveling to job sites and supporting our professional services teams will be a key part of the role. Responsibilities Promotes Behavioral Based Safety policies and procedures for specific areas Monitors and promotes weekly on-site safety inspections, including logging, reporting, and documentation Investigates and manages accidents, injuries, near misses, and root causes Facilitates meetings with and development of Safety Techs in specific areas Leads and trains Safety Techs or site management in accident management Works with and understands the different safety requirements for clients in specific areas Manages safety for a condensed area within the same metropolitan area or nearby towns Communicates safety goals and contingency plans with area leaders Supports Automation, Design Services, OTIS (Operational Technology Infrastructure & Security), and M&S (Maintenance & Support) teams Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to track information and conduct audits Ability to write reports and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public Ability to work well with others and achieve results through others without having a direct line of authority over them Sound judgment skills, with the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress Industrial, contracting, oil & gas, food & beverage, wastewater, or construction experience preferred Other Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Occupational Health or Safety, and four-plus years leading a successful behavior-based safety culture and safety leadership in the construction industry Advanced knowledge of OSHA standards Successful completion of OSHA Authorized Instructor Course #500 for Construction and NFPA 70E classes Successful completion of 30-hour OSHA training Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid training certificates Location This role can be based out of the Omaha, NE; Sioux Center, IA; or Sioux Falls, SD office. Travel Travel will be required and will vary according to geo-market locations. Travel to and from the office and job sites will be approximately 50% of the time, with overnight stays as needed.
