Description
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for leading, supervising, and managing the performance of medical representatives and marketing teams within the Accra and Eastern Region. The role is focused on driving sales growth, achieving regional revenue targets, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring full compliance with company policies and ethical marketing standards. The successful candidate will provide leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to the field sales force to maximize market coverage, customer engagement, and brand visibility Tasks Lead, supervise, and motivate medical and marketing representatives to consistently achieve and exceed assigned sales targets. Set clear performance targets and KPIs and ensure effective execution across the assigned territory. Monitor sales performance on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis and implement corrective actions where required. Conduct regular field visits to support representatives and improve territory coverage and productivity. Identify new business opportunities and untapped markets within the region to increase product penetration and revenue growth. Develop and execute regional sales and marketing plans aligned with the company’s overall business strategy. Prospect new customers through structured outreach, cold calling, and relationship-building initiatives. Strengthen partnerships with hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors, and healthcare institutions. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, opinion leaders, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals. Drive customer retention initiatives and re-engage inactive or dormant accounts. Ensure high-quality customer service delivery that meets and exceeds customer expectations. Support negotiation and closure of high-value sales deals with strategic clients. Ensure effective utilization of promotional materials and marketing campaigns to maximize return on investment (ROI). Coordinate promotional activities and product launches within the assigned region. Ensure consistent brand representation and ethical promotion practices by field teams. Provide on-the-job coaching and mentorship to medical and marketing representatives. Organize regular performance review meetings and training sessions to improve product knowledge and selling skills. Support continuous professional development of team members to enhance productivity and engagement. Monitor stock movement, order fulfillment, and product availability in the region. Follow up on outstanding payments and ensure timely collection of receivables in collaboration with the sales team. Prepare and submit accurate sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates to management. Coordinate closely with internal departments to ensure smooth execution of company sales strategies. Provide technical and commercial insights to senior management on new and existing pharmaceutical products. Recommend improvements in service delivery, product positioning, and sales strategies based on market intelligence. Requirements Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Pharmacy from a recognized institution in Ghana. Additional professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications will be an added advantage. Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales and marketing. Proven experience managing and leading a team of medical representatives or marketing executives. Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets. Strong sales leadership and business development capabilities. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. High-level negotiation and relationship management skills. Strong analytical and reporting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
