JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: AREA SUPERVISOR Reports to: Area Manager Supervises: Food Service & Food Service Utility Workers, Team Leads, and Sandwich Artist® FLSA Exemption: Hourly, Non-Exempt Location: Philadelphia, PA 19153 (PHL Airport - WinKitchen Terminal F, Subway Terminal B/C, Subway Terminal E) Division: Airport / QSR SUMMARY: Supervises restaurant staff by ensuring that food safety procedures are followed, proper food preparation is maintained, and cleanliness and inventory control standards are upheld. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position. This position will float between all Strother Enterprises PHL Airport locations (Subway B/C, Subway E, and WinKitchen). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensure staff compliance with government regulations, company policies, Subway & WinKitchen procedures, and MarketPlace (airport) policies. 2. Prepare and ensure staff prepare meals according to production sheets (menu and portion size guidelines). 3. Serve meals as required. 4. Direct and delegate work assignments to Team Leads, Food Service Workers, and all other team members. 5. Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the kitchen, dining area, and food storage areas. 6. Assist in training, coaching, and evaluating Food Service and Utility Workers, Sandwich Artist®, and other team members. 7. Ensure staff greet customers in a cheerful, enthusiastic, and helpful manner. 8. Follow and ensure staff compliance with safety and other company policies and procedures. 9. Maintain daily logs and ensure temperature (morning and evening) and waste logs are properly completed. 10. Monitor inventory/stock levels of food-related items and other supplies; submit requests for additional inventory/stock and/or maintenance concerns. 11. Receive stock and stock inventory deliveries when Stock Inventory clerk is not present, verifying delivery and ensuring proper storage. 12. Monitor workflow and processes; make suggestions for changes to the Area Manager as needed for efficiency and safety. 13. Resolve customer complaints or service issues; escalate unresolved issues to Area Manager(s). 14. Conduct pre-shift meetings to inform staff of store goals, product information, marketing promotions, and delegate tasks. 15. Manage cash handling including preparing cash register drawers, reconciling/verifying register drawers at shift end, making change, and submitting change orders. 16. Make suggestions for staff meeting content and safety training recommendations to the Area Manager. 17. Consult with the Area Manager regarding unresolved staff issues such as conflicts and performance. 18. Observe and document employee performance and behavior; identify actions not aligned with company policies and consult with Area Manager for disciplinary actions. 19. Perform all tasks and responsibilities as required of Sandwich Artist®, Food Service, and Stock Inventory Clerk Workers as outlined in their job descriptions. 20. Participate in special events and implementation of promotions. 21. Ensure Ordering Kiosks are in working order and stocked with printing paper. 22. Complete University of SUBWAY® courses as directed and assigned. 23. Transition between Subway and WinKitchen locations as operational needs arise or as directed by the Area Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Previous food service industry experience is required. * Previous supervisory experience preferred. SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: * Must complete ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (or equivalent Food Handling or Food Safety certification) as required by the contract. * TSA security clearance is required. * Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervises Sandwich Artists®, Food Service and Utility Service Workers, Stock Inventory Clerks, and other team members. LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATH ABILITY: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required. Must be able to perform basic math calculations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER SKILLS: Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, point of sale programs, and e-mail systems is required to perform this job successfully. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate (retail store setting). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit; use hands and talk or hear.
