Description:

MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience with similar duties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Must be a USN to fill this position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Operate and maintain all equipment used to support the radio and TV stations, including the Armed Forces Network (AFN). This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and maintain all equipment used to support reception and distribution of AFN radio and TV stations/channels, UK provided content, base radio and TV stations/channels (base information and local entertainment/movie options, etc.), and seek ways to improve TV and Radio services provided.
  • Service and shall reposition antenna to capture AFN signal if AFN satellite changes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and corrosion control on AFN reception/distribution equipment IAW approved maintenance to ensure correct operation.
  • Provide an on-site technical capability to implement physical network changes and modifications and restoration of faulty network transmission equipment and circuits
  • Perform technical duties to include maintaining, installing, troubleshooting and repairing telephone switching systems; data transmission media systems; telephone and data circuitry equipment to include T-carrier, fiber-optic modems and multiplexers and associated hardware equipment.
  • Operate and maintain digital, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and VoIP telephone systems.
