WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

  • College level course work in police sciences or related field preferred.
  • Must be a commissioned Police Officer with the Overland Park Police Department at time of hire.
  • A minimum of two years Law Enforcement or equivalent or Military Police preferred.
    Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women’s & Children’s healthcare services. We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU. We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee. Each year our colleagues treat over 45,000 patients. Responsibilities
  • Performs basic security duties and responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs routine daily tasks.
  • Operates a variety of equipment commonly used in the department.
  • Knowledge of operational aspects of computer systems and radio procedures.
  • Conducts interviews and initial investigations of reported incidents.
  • Must quickly take control, remain calm, resolves conflicts, and/or resolve situations in a timely manner.
  • Correct problems identified.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have a proactive approach to problem solving, i.e. addresses issues, problems or behaviors through verbal and nonverbal communication, i.e. maintain respectful and appropriate language and non-defensive body language.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to receive and respond to constructive criticism appropriately.
  • Must have a team work approach with other disciplines as well as within the department.
  • Must be able to identify and work to resolve workflow problems.
  • Position will oversee the Armed Police Officers and set team schedules and manage job performance. Position will maintain Officer Office hours and report issues to the department leader.
