You will be a member of the Business Management Team which provides a supporting role to the MGS business at Clyde. This is a non operational role but the candidate will provide an essential supporting role to MGS. The post covers MGS across both HMNB Clyde & Coulport. The main functions will be the Asset & Equipment role but will be expected to assist in other business management key tasks.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Ministry of Defence Guard Service (MGS) provides high quality security services at over 170 MOD sites across the United Kingdom. The MGS has guarded the Defence Estate for over 30 years including high profile locations such as MOD Main Building in London, Whitehall and His Majesty’s Naval Bases at Portsmouth, Devonport, and the Clyde. We provide access control, military working dogs, control room operations and other security services. We play a vital role supporting the Defence Mission and work to protect the Defence estate and personnel from crime, terrorism, espionage, and sabotage threats.

This post, within the MGS Department, offers an opportunity to lead a team of two staff managing the delivery of Assets & Security Equipment at HMNB Clyde and RNAD Coulport.
You will be responsible for managing MGS ICT requirements providing support while ensuring all its business objectives are met. You will be responsible for the audit and assurance for all the equipment across both sites. You will act as Transport Manager for the fleet of vehicles. You will act as focal point for stores requests ensuring all requests are justified and provide value for money.
You will act as an ITSO/ IT LSO, providing support as required.
You will maintain all MGS Asset registers. You will lead on the Assets & Equipment focus group.
You will be required to work flexibly across the department, prioritising and managing your own workload.
Provide Business administrative support to MGS Clyde.
Conduct agreed audit and assurance activities as required by RM1.
Accountable to the Area Operations Manager for the efficient and cost-effective business support to the site.
The Job Holder will agree objectives with the Area Operations Manager against which personal performance will be measured.
Where required carry out other tasks appropriate to the grade.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
