ThayerMahan, an leader and a fast-growing, mission-focused, innovative technology company in the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) space is seeking a highly skilled and experienced an Array Manufacturing Lead to join and strengthen our growing mechanical engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of engineers. You will play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of marine systems while serving as a mentor and technical guide for a talented team of young engineers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal Technician or Technology training from a recognized college or university.
  • Prior experience working with equipment for underwater use including electro-mechanical devices
  • Experience in the assembly of complex mechanical systems and components, test engineering, bonded assembly or encapsulation.
  • Proficient computer literacy suitable for update and release of documents and referencing technical documentation.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience, or willingness to learn, engineering documentation.
  • Solution-oriented and can identify and solve problems.
  • Experience working in a detailed, hands-on assembly environment.
  • Soldering experience with good dexterity and the ability to solder to IPC-A_610 and IPC-620 class 3 standards considered an asset.
  • Passionate about build, testing and producing a quality products
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee assembly and test of systems including mechanical assembly, bonded assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, encapsulation and modification of components.
  • Serve as on-floor leadership, reviewing the manufacturing process and ensuring team members meet production targets efficiently and safely, while maintaining quality standards.
  • Complete and maintain detailed product build and test documentation, assess product compliance to established quality standards, and sign-off of key build stages.
  • Contribute to refinement of product design, build documentation and processes through record of changes and red lines for review during product assembly.
  • Work as part of a skilled interdisciplinary team to resolve production and assembly issues while working with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Read and interpret detailed drawings, assembly procedures, routing cards, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard free workstation by cleaning and maintain equipment, tidying production floor and complying with health and safety procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing group.
