Description Purpose of the Job/Essential Functions: We are hiring an Art Director, to consistently deliver compelling visual designs on a wide range of projects, including print, video, digital, social, motion/animation, websites, presentations and more. This role will work closely with our creative director, copywriter, jr. art director, video producer, content creators, and cross-functional partners, to ensure brand consistency and creative excellence from concept through final delivery for on-air and digital campaigns across the Austin PBS ecosystem. As a visually driven creative with a refined eye for typography, composition, and storytelling across both static and motion, the Art Director develops fully integrated 360° campaigns spanning print, digital/motion, social, web and broadcast. In collaboration with cross-departmental partners, this role helps bring bold ideas to life for Austin PBS Originals including Austin City Limits, Central Texas Gardener, Overheard with Evan Smith, Austin InSight, Decibel, and initiatives supporting Membership, Fundraising, and PBS KIDS education efforts. Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this role are twofold: to create stunning visual design across print, digital, web, and on-air, and to bring that work to life through animation (After Effects) Design and produce branding assets including logo design, typography, color palette development, brand guidelines to ensure scalable assets across digital and physical touchpoints Partner with the copywriter and creative team to concept and execute integrated omni-channel marketing campaigns Translate static graphics into motion assets for video and social platforms Maintain a cohesive visual identity across platforms and departments Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines and shifting priorities Serve as a design advocate across the station, collaborating with internal teams to elevate creative standards Organize and maintain working files according to department standards Participate in on-site and off-site production support as needed Mentor junior creatives and interns Requirements Minimum Qualifications: You must have a design portfolio to be considered for this position that showcases high-impact campaigns and digital experiences that demonstrate strong visual storytelling, motion design, and web design capabilities, with clear evidence of driving engagement and growth 5+ years of design experience in advertising, marketing, or a high-demand multimedia environment Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and After Effects); Figma or Sketch a plus Strong layout, typography, color, and visual storytelling skills, including original illustration capabilities Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills that elevates dialogue and demonstrates strong storytelling expertise Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively Agility in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while always working towards innovative and creative solutions Ability to work non-standard hours in support of major activities and emergencies.
