Westboro Academy is a bilingual independent K-8 school in Ottawa, in search of an art teacher and resource from Grades 1-4 from August 25th to December 19th . The successful applicant will be expected to teach weekly art classes in French to students from grade 1 to grade 8.

QUALIFICATIONS

It is expected that candidates for this position will be highly qualified educators.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Hold the relevant credential in visual arts and/or teaching
• Ideally two years experience in a related field
• Expertise in Art

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills – specifically an effective ability to communicate to students, colleagues and parents, as well as the ability to develop strong relationships with these groups
• Willingness and ability to promote high standards (personal, academic, and creative) within the school
• Ability to quickly adapt teaching approaches based on external factors (i.e. distance learning model)
• Ideally bilingual (French/English)

The Art Teacher will be a forward-thinking teacher who is well versed in a student-centred approach to teaching and learning:

• Create and document art lessons
• Where applicable, embed the use of technology in art
• Promote a passion and skillset of art thinking throughout the school
• Adapt lessons to the needed teaching model. This may vary from face-to-face lessons to a distance learning model utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning engagements.
