The Opportunity: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Visual Arts Teacher with expertise in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to join our Junior School. This is a part-time role on a permanent basis beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.  In a community where social-emotional learning is a priority, the successful candidate will collaborate with a passionate and committed team, working closely with the Head of the Junior School, Assistant Heads of the Junior School and PYP Coordinators, and Learning Leads.  This posting is for an existing vacancy with a projected start date of August 2026. Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to: * Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth; * Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability; * Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members; * Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with IB PYP and Branksome Hall curriculum, ensuring differentiation; * Develop long-range plans, unit plans and lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB PYP curriculum, with a focus on inquiry-based learning; * Update all necessary records accurately as required by the IB and school guidelines; * Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress, including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings; * Keep up to date and incorporate best practices in the subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities; * Participate actively in faculty and division meetings and meet regularly with all grade teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum; * Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and the Art Showcase. Candidate Profile: * Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialization in Visual Arts;  * Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with P/J qualifications in Visual Arts; * Minimum three years’ experience as a classroom teacher; * Experience with Kindergarten - Grade 2 classes is preferred; * Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset; * Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop environment; * Embraces innovation and collaboration;  * Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large; * Possesses strong oral and written communication skills; * Work independently with little direct supervision; * Work as part of a team; * Strong time management skills, * Belief in Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values. Target Hiring Range:  Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 – $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of applicable experience and $101,615.33 – $134,998.82 for more than 6 years of applicable experience.
