Salary: PS4 Actual Salary £19,158 - £ 20,514 (FTE £24,275 - £25,993) 35 hours per week. Term time - 36.8 weeks. Full or part time considered. There may be an opportunity to work for a couple of weeks during the holidays.

Responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Duties

  • Provide technical support for the art curriculum, including the preparation of materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring resources are maintained and available for use
  • Work closely with staff to support and enhance the delivery of the art curriculum
  • Prepare and organise materials, tools, and equipment for art lessons
  • Assist in the demonstration of art techniques, equipment, and processes
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff and pupils on the use of art materials, equipment, and techniques
  • Manage and order stock, ensuring the department is well-equipped with essential materials and resources
  • Ensure pupils’ artwork is stored safely and appropriately, maintaining its quality and presentation
  • Stay up to date with developments in art techniques, materials, and technology, actively developing new skills where possible remaining informed about current exhibitions and development in art and design
  • Assist in the safe disposal of materials and outdated stock
  • Provide support to other departments as required, including Art and Design
  • Maintain a high standard of visual displays around the school
  • Maintain tidy and organised workspaces and storage areas
  • Clean areas of the department regularly
  • Support with practical examinations as required
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks

Health and Safety

  • Ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to when using, maintaining and

checking specialist apparatus and equipment

  • Stay up to date with any health and safety training as required by the school
  • Read and adhere to the school’s Health and Safety Policy staff and pupils on the safe use of equipment and apparatus
  • Ensure the department has a good quality stock of PPE required for carrying out certain practical activities, e.g. safety goggles
  • Ensure equipment and apparatus and areas within the department are safe prior to practical lessons
