Description Job Title: Art Therapist *2026-2027 School Year Employee Classification: Salaries, Exempt / Part-Time Employee Reports To: Principal, Brecksville Summary Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Currently there are campuses in Akron, Brecksville, Lyndhurst, and Westlake that offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non-public schools that respect diverse faith traditions. The Art Therapist will report to and is evaluated by the School Principal. The Art Therapist is expected to provide individual and group art therapy to elementary grade school students with academic and social learning challenges. Duties and Responsibilities The following is a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties to be assigned as needed. Plan, prepare, and implement a therapeutic art program to facilitate learning and to achieve educational and behavioral objectives based on the student’s individual needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet a variety of learning needs. Provide instruction and supervision of students when using various art materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support instruction and art activities. Observe, evaluate, and record student performance and development. Implement a whole-child approach to learning by collaborating with Intervention Specialists and other staff therapists. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Participate in professional development activities. Requirements Qualification, Educations, and Experience Graduate Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution. Working experience with children with special learning needs. Recent graduates will be considered with appropriate experience in an educational environment. Must possess one of the credentials below: Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-Provisional) Registered Art Therapist (ATR) Board Certified Art Therapist (ATBC) Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
