The Art Unit Director serves as a seasonal leadership team member of the Westfield Area Y summer camp staff. This position plays an integral role in creating a safe, engaging, and creative environment for campers while overseeing art staff, managing supplies, developing curriculum, and supporting overall camp operations. The Art Unit Director promotes creativity, self-expression, and artistic skill development among campers while maintaining the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, responsibility, and respect. Requirements Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age Minimum of 2 seasons of camp experience or relevant experience in art education, studio instruction, or youth creative programming Preferred coursework or degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Studio Art, Education, or related field Must obtain and maintain: - ASHI Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers and Professional Rescuers - ASHI Basic First Aid - EPI and Asthma Certifications (or equivalent) Must be able to lift up to 50lbs Must represent the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, responsibility, and respect Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills required Must attend mandatory pre-camp trainings
