We are a publicly funded organization championing access to justice through professional legal services. Legal Aid Saskatchewan has five (5) Student-at-Law positions available for 2027-2028. Positions are based out of Saskatoon City, Melfort, Prince Albert, Regina Rural & Swift Current. Note: based on previous years, we have received a high volume of applications for roles located in Saskatoon and Regina. Responsibilities Under the direction of the respective principal, the Student-at-Law will have the opportunity to complete their articles through exposure to adult/ youth criminal law and family law. Range of tasks include: * Interviewing applicants/clients to determine financial and range of service eligibility, to assess the legal problem, to gather information, to determine with the client the range of options available to the client, to make recommendations as to the most viable options in consultation with the supervising lawyer. * Representing a client in Provincial court, under the supervision of a lawyer, for adjournments, entering pleas, setting matters over to trial, speaking to sentence on non-indictable matters or other court assignments, students may have opportunity to run their own trials on non-indictable matters. * Preparing documents and pleadings. * Interviewing witnesses. * Mediating between a client and opposing party, under the supervision of the supervising lawyer. * Providing general legal advice and information. * Researching legal issues. Position Requirements * Graduation from a recognized law school with an LL.B. degree or equivalent. * Approved as a student- at-law with the Law Society of Saskatchewan. * Ability to use a computer for research. * Positions may involve travel to Rural Court Point circuits.
