JOB OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the Principal, you will provide high-quality extracurricular activities for children that foster their well-being, while reflecting the needs of families and the community. We are seeking passionate, creative, and caring people to join our team of dedicated staff members. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the beautiful Cadboro Bay neighbourhood, near UVIC and public transit routes. Our facilities include a gymnasium, multipurpose rooms, art room, a playground across the street, and access to nearby beaches and forests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Age Requirement: 19 years or older
  • Criminal Record Check: Must be acceptable
  • First Aid and CPR-C Certification: Current and valid
  • An interest in working with children to support Fine Arts education.
  • Previous experience working with children ages 6 through 14.
  • Skilled in group management, supervision, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to focus on multiple tasks and manage challenging situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, respectful attitude toward children, families, and staff.
  • A genuine love and enthusiasm for working with children.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Arts and Crafts Program: Lead a fun and engaging program for children in grades K-6.
  • Plan & Implement Activities: Create flexible routines that meet the needs of children and families, ensuring a balance of active and quiet, indoor and outdoor experiences.
  • Maintain a Safe & Inclusive Environment: Provide a physical space that is safe, welcoming, and supports the participation of children with varying abilities.
  • Health & Safety: Report accidents, injuries, and illnesses to the Principal.
  • Collaborate with Families: Establish positive relationships with families through greetings, information sharing, and ongoing communication.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with fellow staff members, sharing responsibilities and supporting each other in day-to-day tasks.
