POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is responsible for the efficient and safe removal of contaminates from residential and commercial buildings. You will be establishing a safe environment to complete the abatement process - hazardous material abatement includes the removal of asbestos, lead, mold, and other contamination due to disaster such as flood, fire and trauma.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
A personable and well-organized individual who pays attention to detail and has excellent data entry skills. Someone who has a professional manner and is able to interact with employers and vendors daily. Experienced in working in a fast- paced environment. Other important attributes of a future Environmental Services Technician are:
- 3-5 years experience, ticketed Hazmat Tech
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required
- Successful completion of criminal background check
- Ability to use a computer and a smart phone
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) and must have excellent customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in personal protective equipment, including Tyvek suit and respirators for extended periods of time
Working Conditions:
- Must be flexible to work overtime, evenings, and weekends on occasion
Responsibilities:
- Accurately complete timesheets and consumables
- Complete SSO
- Reviews detailed procedures
- Assist with decontamination unit and portable shower set up and take down
- Assist with removal of hazardous materials from building structures as defined in a project scope
- Assist with preparing hazardous materials for disposal as outline in detailed work procedures
- Preparation on job sites for HazMat work with includes assembling containments and sealing off work areas
- Daily completion of tracking paperwork, timecards, checkout forms and other necessary documents
- Assist with emergency services demo when required
- Re-stock supplies and equipment
- Ensure all relevant safety standards are followed according to Canstar/Lydale and Worksafe requirements
Health and Safety
- Ensure that self and others adhere to Canstar/ Lydale’s health and safety practices and procedures
- Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
- Understand safety policies and protocols
- Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required
